Happy Labor Day! A bit of a surprise release but I have been on quite a tear. The Celtic Veil Boxset has now been released! I wasn’t certain I could get it done and this has been a heck of a project to tackle this summer, but I am beyond excited to put together my final boxset.
Well, for the time being. The Warwick Witches is still ongoing but I will get to that when I am finished with it!
To go back over The Celtic Veil series was special to me. I absolutely love this series for various reasons. The biggest reason being is that, in a strange way, I got to save my father from cancer. Initially Sean was supposed to die and this is what promoted Adara and her mother to be swayed by a move to the otherworld, but I just couldn’t write that story. I know it was hard for my mother to read the first few chapters since I had woven my father’s own cancer journey into the first part of the book, but writing Sean’s recovery and saving him, helped me with my own grief.
I also laid bare my own battle with anxiety and what happens when I go down the proverbial health anxiety rabbit hole. I was hesitate to share but my wise son Wyatt told me that maybe it might help someone to realize they are not alone and so, I put it out there for the world to see. Ironically, the person it helped was me. As I explored Adara’s anxiety, I realized just what triggered mine as well, and I haven’t had as many attacks since writing this series.
Who knew that writing this series would provide me with so many emotional answers and solutions to an extremely personal and sometimes terrifying disorder?
I also loved exploring Celtic mythology and lore. I blatantly used The Lord of the Rings as inspiration. But what I loved most was writing these characters. Creating their stories was just pure joy from start to finish. I can picture them so clearly in my mind. I also worked with my amazingly creative son Ethan and created a map of the otherworld which brought us both excitement. I guess, the one person I should thank is my father for inspiring this story. It’s amazing how a soul can leave this world but never be far from our hearts and minds.
This series is for you, Murrey. I think you would have liked this one the most…aside from the, shall we say, spicy bits?
