It’s finally here! I know it may not seem like a long time for my readers since I just published The Fairy Door in July, but it has been an exhausting journey for me.
I started this book the second, The Fairy Door, was in my editor’s hands. After about eight chapters though, I ran out of gas. I’m not sure if it was because I have been writing nonstop for the last few years, or if it was because I was suffering from a slight depression that my children were getting older.
I don’t know what it was exactly, but within minutes of my twin boys passing their driver’s license test, I shut down and draped a protective shroud around our home for the summer.
I didn’t want to write for the first time in ages. I just wanted to enjoy my children and I also needed a creative break.
It wasn’t easy firing up the laptop, but I had a deadline to meet and I was given two weeks by my editor.
It was the best thing she could have said to me because I was starting to doubt myself as a writer. I wasn’t sure if I could pick up the proverbial pen again.
If you look at the absence of blog posts over the last few months then you will see that it was in all areas I was suffering from a brain and body collapse.
Once I started typing though, all the insecurities went out of my head and I found myself loving this story once again.
I’m not going to lie, but it was really writing the epilogue which turned into chapter one for Enchanting Wick that propelled me into an excitement that I haven’t felt before.
I love these characters. Liliana is interesting to write because she is such a good person and Killian is her male counterpart in every way. I hope you enjoy continuing on their journey with them and I also hope you are ready for what lies ahead because the next few books are explosive!
